That is one RIPE egg. I know you have to pluck a chicken before you cook/eat it but I didn't know that some people, like yourself, have to pluck an egg too.
The feather is stuck to the outside. And it's not a common occurence. This is the only feather this size we've seen, although there have been a few other tiny feathers and occasionally a bit of what looks like bird dirt.
